[How Victoria let down 610 children who needed help the most].

AT least one child in state care dies every fortnight and another 20 are involved in assaults in Victoria.

A shock new report reveals 27 children died in the past year while in the care of child protection workers, or soon after leaving.

The deaths of another five children who were known to the Department of Human Services were also investigated last year.

Senate finds 86 children died in care of giant for-profit foster care firm

Two-year-old Alexandria Hill was murdered by a foster mother recruited and trained by the US's largest for-profit foster care company, The Mentor Network. Two years after a BuzzFeed News investigation, the Senate introduces the Child Welfare and Accountability Act to track foster care contractors.

Two-year-old Alexandria Hill was murdered by a foster mother recruited and trained by the US's largest for-profit foster care company, The Mentor Network.

At least 86 children died in a 10-year period while in the custody of a giant for-profit foster care company, according to an investigation by the US Senate Committee on Finance. In only 13 of those deaths did the company, The Mentor Network, conduct an internal investigation, the committee found.

The Senate committee said the company “falsely” claimed that its child death rate was in line with the fatality rates in the overall foster care system.

The Senate probe started in part because of a series by BuzzFeed News that profiled problems at the company, which was the largest for-profit foster care provider in the country. In one case a 2-year-old girl who was placed at a home run by Mentor was murdered by her foster mother. In another case, a series of boys were sexually abused by a Mentor foster father, whom Mentor paid as a foster parent for years despite a series of red flags. He had requested that he be sent boys who were “male, white, any age.”

Canberra children continue to die under the Territory’s ‘care and protection’ system

Other than the Jack Sullivan case back in 2008, Bradyn Dillon and Jakob Oakey’s stories are the only deaths Canberrans and Australians are aware of (and we continue to look for other kids’ stories for answers on why they are dying).  Like Jakob, Jack’s death would not have made the ACT Child Death Review reports. due to him have being 18 at the time he died despite the horrific failings of Canberra’s CYPS in his case. Where are the other AT LEAST 21 children who have died since 2012 and how many more have died in 2017/18?  Canberra has given our people no confidence, transparency or oversight to prevent our children being abused, neglected and dying when the government has been overseeing them.

In September 2016, ABC brought the presentation Behind Closed Doors of the deaths and (just some of) the failures in Bradyn’s and Jakob’s cases.  Of course since the airing of BCDs much, much more information has come out on both Jakob’s and Bradyn’s deaths and the depth of the failures in these two cases continue to build up due to the negligence and detrimental decision making of the Child and Young People Services (CYPS) in Canberra.

Since Behind Closed Doors aired the figures of Canberra children known to CYPS has risen by at least 8 (which of course does not include neglected and abused ca…re leavers – such as Jakob – who died as a result of their time in care). The figures known at the time BCD aired stood at 13 (more girls than boys) plus Jakob and Bradyn.  A new review is now out. The figures as of November 2016 (over a year ago) now stand at AT LEAST 21 due to the writing of the reports some deaths are not shown. For example, Bradyn died in 2016 yet there is no record of a child death at all known to CYPS for that year. If there is less than a certain number (4 or 5 deaths) in a year, then NO death is noted (as I understand it). This is why there are AT LEAST 21 (but we know at least 22 including Bradyn) who died who were known to CYPS.

MP Pru Goward and NSW FACS hiding even more deaths of children in care

Latest reports published by the NSW government are deliberately misleading the amount of children who die under their watch.  First Pru Goward blended the deaths of children in foster care with those who were “known to the system”.  Now any child placed on a Guardianship Order is not even “classified” as being in out of home care, meaning those statistics have been removed/hidden also

It seems our government will stop at nothing to keep those shiny dollars coming in for the golden stakeholders, whom thrive exponentially whilst obliterating families.

A fathers plea. WA DCP liable for death of young mother after children abused in DCF custody

Remember Carly's Fight - WA DCFThis could be ur daughter or sister dead.  I can’t explain everything here it’s too long.  DCP took my grandkids who were being cared for to end up being abused with burn marks.

DCP put my 25yr old daughter Carly in a back shed on September 19 2018 (last year), ending her life to save her children by what they done to her & the assault on my 4yr old Granddaughter by foster carers - who were cleared. Most foster carers are cleared of abuse and or murder.

Burn marks on 3yr old little CJ that were ignored, we don’t know what other abuse has happened, total EVIL power driven controlling bullying women & men against defenceless broken mothers ... the gutless cowards.

If it can get to the High Court in front of a jury, i’m positive they will convict them.

  • Illegal removal of children
  • assault by foster carers
  • failing to protect the children when the first burn mark was noticed (jail sentence in NSW & Tas) leading to
  • the assault of 4yr old Shakyah
  • misconduct DCP officers and ultimately causing
  • the death of a broken mother, Carly (my daughter).

Baby murder’ rocks child protection system

A WOMAN caring for a 20-month-old foster baby has been sensationally charged with his murder in the latest case to rock the embattled child protection system. The 40-year-old carer, who cannot be named under NSW law, was arrested yesterday over the suspicious death of the toddler in 2015. The fatality occurred in a small rural town 100km northwest of Dubbo. A police statement confirming the woman was “charged with murder and refused bail” comes after The Daily Telegraph made multiple inquiries. The newspaper had discovered the Aboriginal child had a broken femur and multiple bruises on his face at the time of his death. His biological mother said she was “desperate for answers” and had been “left in the dark” by the government and the foster care provider — Uniting.

“We don’t know anything,” she said. “We haven’t been told anything.

“We didn’t even get to see him until three weeks after he died.” The mother said she was the victim of an abusive partner and reached out for temporary help until she could provide a safe home for her son. Two months later he was dead.

Murdered baby Elsie ‘would still be alive if social services had not taken her’

Elsie was named Shayla O’Brien by her birth family when she was born in November 2014.  Murdered baby Elsie ‘would still be alive if social services had not taken her’.

The birth family of Elsie Scully-Hicks have said she would “still be alive today” if she had not been removed from their care by social services.

Child abuse industry deaths in Canada

Do the claims of good intentions really outweigh the bodies of the children dying in Ontario's child protection system every year?

Do you trust a corporate agency that refuses to register with the College of Social Work, that refuses to cooperate with Ombudsman and the Privacy Commissioner unless the law in Ontario specifically says they have to?

How did 92 children in care die between 2008/2012 according to the Ontario PDRC report? The PDRC say it's a complete mystery and no further investigation is required. Between 2008/2012 natural causes was listed as the least likely way for a child in care to die at 7% of the total deaths reviewed while "undetermined cause" was listed as the leading cause of death of children in Ontario's child protection system at 43% of the total deaths reviewed.

Fatal Care: about the series

In 2009, the Edmonton Journal asked the government of Alberta how many children had died in its care that year. The government couldn’t provide a number, nor could it answer other questions about foster care deaths. It was not new; reporters had been having trouble getting this information for years. So, the Journal put in a request to see all internal government reports related to the deaths of children in care from 1999 to 2009. The government declined, citing privacy issues. But in June 2013, after a four-year legal battle, Alberta’s access to information commission forced the government to release information on each child that had died in its care between 1999 and 2013.

Fatal Care: The deaths of Alberta children in government care

Fatal Care, Publication ban lifted

In the last 14 years, 145 children have died in government care, nearly triple the number previously reported by the province. Many, like the child this father mourns at a gravesite west of Edmonton, were just infants.

The Alberta government has dramatically under-reported the number of child welfare deaths over the past decade, undermining public accountability and thwarting efforts at prevention and reform. A six-month Edmonton Journal-Calgary Herald investigation found 145 foster children have died since 1999, nearly triple the 56 deaths revealed in government annual reports over the same period.

"Belmont Baby Death"

Page: 28728

Ms PRU GOWARD: I direct my question to the Minister for Community Services. Will the Minister commit today to having the case involving the death of a baby in Belmont in December 2007 re-investigated, after revelations that a whistleblower, a caseworker from the Department of Community Services, had submitted a warning report recommending an urgent risk assessment of the family but that was never passed to police or the Child Death Review Team? Given his report could have significantly changed the then murder investigation, will the Minister have the case re-investigated? Or, will the Minister cover it up? I have his affidavits if the Minister would like access.

Ms LINDA BURNEY: This is a terribly sad case that occurred three years ago. I ask members to listen carefully, in particular the member for Goulburn. Despite investigations by the Coroner and the New South Wales Ombudsman, the cause of death could not be determined and the baby may have been still born. In fact, this little baby probably never took a breath. I will repeat this just to make it absolutely clear.

[Interruption]

The SPEAKER: Order! Members will listen to the Minister in silence.

Ms LINDA BURNEY: Separate investigations by the Coroner, the police and the Ombudsman have been carried out and not one of those experts or professionals has ever identified any grounds to substantiate a charge of murder—

The SPEAKER: Order! The Leader of the Opposition will cease interjecting.

Ms LINDA BURNEY: —or found any basis to support the allegations of a cover-up.

Mr Barry O'Farrell: He does not have access to the case worker.

Ms LINDA BURNEY: If you can just hold your tongue for one minute, you will find out.

The SPEAKER: Order! A question has been asked on a serious matter and the Minister is giving her answer. I again ask members to listen to the Minister in silence.

Ms LINDA BURNEY: How utterly irresponsible of the member for Goulburn to start smearing a family with the gravest of possible charges, all without a shred of evidence to support such a charge. The member for Goulburn evidently launched this crusade against this family not only without evidence but also without any thought of what those kinds of allegations do to the other children in the family. They do not deserve this. I know from some of the letters I have received from the member for Goulburn that she fancies herself as a bit of a social worker. She now seems to think she is also a judge and a jury.

Ms Pru Goward: Point of order: Standing Order 129—it was a very direct question: Will the Minister re-investigate the matter?

The SPEAKER: Order! Members will come to order. The Minister's response is clearly relevant to the question.

Ms LINDA BURNEY: The allegations of a cover-up in this matter are simply absurd. Community Services conducted an internal review to examine whether there was anything the agency could learn from this case because there are always things we can learn, or might do differently with the benefit of hindsight. We recognise that and that is exactly why a review of this case was conducted. The Opposition knows all of that because it has a copy of the review report. The Opposition requested information under freedom of information and it was provided. The Opposition also asked questions on notice, which were answered. So where is the cover up? Where is the secrecy? The internal review focused on the way the case was managed prior to the tragedy. Community Services was never made aware of the pregnancy, nor received any reports about the existence of the unborn baby, until the discovery of the body. The mother in question kept her pregnancy to herself.

All information about this case, including findings of the Coroner and police were provided to the Child Death Review Team. Furthermore, all of the Community Services information about this family was provided to the Special Commission of Inquiry. Where is the cover up? It would be laughable if it were not so horrifying to think that the member for Goulburn is holding herself up as ready to take on the responsibility of the Community Services portfolio. Families in New South Wales be warned! I am aware that the employee of Community Services was quoted in a media report. I am concerned about confidentiality. The investigation of that staff member had nothing to do with this case. This matter was completely unrelated to the death of the baby in Belmont. Any allegation of that kind is serious and an investigation was undertaken. The findings of that investigation led to disciplinary action, which was eventually settled in the Industrial Relations Commission.  (Source : http://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/prod/parlment/hansart.nsf/V3Key/LA20101201015?open&refNavID=HA8_1)

Justice for Kyisha Griffiths Cottom

Kyisha Griffiths Cottom was removed from her mother by the NSW Department of Community Services because she was a victim of domestic violence.

Like most cases involving DoCS, the mother was crucified, not offered any assistance or support to be able to leave the situation, and she was turned instantly into a surrogate for the system that pretends to care for children and families.

Caseworkers chose their normal "modus operandi", and just ripped the kids from the parent who loved them, gave them to complete strangers and tried to pretend that they just have a complete new family now, and this stranger who is female, they must refer to now as "mummy".

In the time period that Kyisha was "under the care" of the department, she was moved around more times than fifteen foster homes - not exactly stable now is it.  She was then repeatedly returned to Allambi House Group Home which is where she died of a drug overdose.

"Another two year old toddler killed in care of DoCS NSW"

Another toddler has drowned in foster care after being removed from his mother just three weeks earlier.  Many mainstream news outlets have publicised the death, but there has not been one mention that the child, Braxton, was prematurely taken from his mother, prior to supports being provided as per usual, and placed in the care of more lousy and careless foster carers who only care for the money the child will bring them, and not the child himself.

Time and time again, children die in the so-called "care" of the department, without anybody being held accountable.

Braxton was only two years old and his life was taken by the agency that purports to be there to protect children.  It is time charges are laid for carers who kill children in their care.

Australian child protection still failing Sarah Westley's legacy

For those who understand well that children can be legally taken from parents - and then medically treated without parental consent, even at the dead end cost of of their children's death, disability,  torture, and extremely traumatising to your mental and emotional well being.
