The grim discovery comes a day after the body of her husband was found.
Outback police have located the body of an elderly German tourist on Tuesday, a day after the body of her husband was found in a remote part of a nature park in central Australia.
The search for 73-year-old German woman Gisela Thor in the Trephina Gorge, northeast of Alice Springs, recommenced on Tuesday before her body was found in the afternoon, police confirmed in a press conference.
Police also refused to comment on the cause of death of Thor, saying it is a matter for pathologists and the coroner.
The discovery follows the grim discovery of her husband Wilfred's body on Monday.

Northern Territory Police Sergeant Philip Emmett said the 76-year-old man's body was located during a search for the missing tourists, who are believed to have strayed from park walking trails.
The NT News reports that the pair's hire car had been at the park since Friday morning. The tourists arrived in Australia at the start of February and are said to have hired a car from Alice Springs airport on February 9.
The big concern for the 73-year-old woman's safety stemmed from the extreme conditions in the area over the weekend as well as the possibility she may have needed medication.
While there is thought to be easy access to water in the area following recent rains, temperatures around Alice Springs are forecast to remain in the high 30s until Sunday.
Authorities reportedly focused their efforts on Tuesday on five different tracks in the park, which is located in the East MacDonnell Ranges, about 85 kilometres east of Alice Springs.
The search is underway in a remote part of the Northern Territory.
